Ok so I learned all there was to know regards processing Lights darks flats and bios frames using dslr And to many a frustrating hour capturing and processing to achieve not very good results,my venture into video began.
So as it is now iam back at the beginning Even tho i know how to process in DSS Iam unsure how to take darks and bios or flats using the video , is it same as dslr by blocking the lens and taking same length exposures ? And to be fair I'm even unsure as to if you sit back watch the sky on preview ? Will that let the image build up and just take a screen shot ? I have not seen or found any good tutorials On how it is done once yours aligned on the target ones looking to capture A basic how to would be great ,as iam sure a lot of it will be down to the personal setup of equipment, but principled the same . As to me and many others iam sure being complete novice to video would appreciate the help or simple tutorial

Limited time today but a visit to the Mallincam Yahoo group will give you a good start. They are using MiloSlick video software.
I use Deep Sky Stacker Live and MaximDL to process still frames from video cameras or images from my Universe on the fly.

Si, if you want to turn captured video into Imaging you would do the exact same process you would when doing Planetary Imaging or DSLR imaging Stack the video frames as you would with a planetary Avi to achieve a single 'Light' image (Registax is great at this). Then do the same with a very short video of a 'dark' with the cap on. Then subtract the dark from the light as usual. If you want to do Bias also, then do it the same way as you would for any other processing. But what is nice in the Video Astronomy world is the wonderful capture software called Miloslick. It has a 'dark' feature where you take a dark and subtract it from the Live Video while watching the Live video. It has Histogram adjustment, hot pixel removal, etc etc. All on-the-fly while doing Video. The reason there are very few tutorials on Image Processing from Video Astronomy is because not many people do it. Video cameras are designed for Observing the sky, not imaging it. But they can do both, just don't expect the megapixel high resolution results you would get from a dedicated Imaging camera. You will find that probably 90% of images posted in Forums and websites from Video Astronomy cameras are NOT processed. They are raw Screen Grabs. The idea is to show how good the camera works on DSO's, not how good your processing skills are :DBut a rare few do use their Video Cameras for Imaging. Starting at the Xtreme and for models after the Xtreme there is a CCD Imaging mode built in to the cameras for anyone wanting to image with their camera. Then there is the Mallincam Universe. It is an Imaging CCD that can also do Live Video. Best of both worlds.

Many thanks dragon man My thoughts on images are iam a bit of an artist Iam not looking for crystal perfection In images I may capture So a screen grab may just be what iam looking for And from what I have seen from others images They show a great picture And then my idea would be more to paint what I capture on canvas So the less hours of capturing and processing like with dslr the better I was interested in if it was a whole new learning process again being video rather than stacking raw dslr pictures But from how you describe sounds a little better Thanks for the advice si

There is a regular NSN viewer who sketches what he sees in people NSN Broadcasts. I once stayed on Carina Nebula for him for about 20 minutes so he could sketch it from my Live view. Cool huh! Please show us your Astro paintings some time

Arthur, yes and No. Miloslick will Process 'on-the-fly' incoming video from almost any camera, including Laptop built-in webcams, etc. But it will only allow you to manipulate 'Incoming' signals. Miloslick will only send Outgoing signals to the Mallincam cameras, to control them. But there are other ways to control your SCB-2000 remotely. You can still use all the great features in Miloslick to stack, hot pixel removal, Histogram etc. But Control the outgoing signal to your camera with a separate controller. Hi Arthur, My scb2000 gave out on me, but I made a remote hand control for it based on this step by step process written by Tom Hering. I was able to use the controller on my HD video cam, too. xa.yimg.com/kq/groups/17869812/495405052/name/Remote+Control+for+the+Samsung+SDC.docKen's right on the Miloslick, and it is a great program for handling the image for just about any analogue video camera, but it only has camera control for Mallicams.
