I currently have Win7 64bit Home Premium with Service Pack 1. PC is HP Pavilion g series laptop. i5.
Has anyone with access to testing Windows 10 found any problems running Mallincam cameras or any other Video Astronomy cameras, Video Grabbers, any software including Miloslick, Stephan's software, etc?
Any problems using all the gear in NSN? WebcamMax?
The launch date of Win10 is July 29 which is approaching rapidly and I still haven't heard anything about it being good or bad for the equipment and software we use.
Any results from any of you yet? I don't know whether to accept the offer of Win10 or stay win Win7.

Thanks davy.
My missus has been looking into using Win10 too and so far the feedback she has had from some people testing it is:
- If you have Win8, then the update is far better. Go for it. Win8 has so many problems that Win10 addresses.
- If you have Win7, don't bother updating. The old saying works here: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
I'll take that info and sit on it as log possible. Given enough time, there will be reviews and bug reports after it gets released on 29th July. I've only had one response to my question so far and that was in the Yahoo Groups. No-one else has answered.
But it sounds like Win10 will address the problems in Win8, the same as Win7 addressed a lot of problem in Vista.

I broke down and put Windows 10 on my Mac, got tired of fighting it. But now I have both and it runs smooth on my MacBook Pro under boot camp . Usb cams work with any program I used to image with so far. I really don't expect any driver issues.

I've got it installed on all 4 pc's now and so far it's been ok, it boots up a lot faster than win7 and a tad quicker than 8.1. Only thing I didn't like in 10 is the email software so I stuck windows live mail back on and Microsoft Edge that replaces internet explorer is watered down a bit there's not as many functions with Edge but you get use to it. I tried to stick Internet Explorer back on but Win 10 doesn't seem to like it. All the software I use seems to run ok with win10 so you shouldn't have any problems.
You might as well stick it on and if you don't like it there's a option to go back to your old Windows. What it does is that it keeps your old windows on your hard drive which is renamed windows old and you just click on a icon which will remove Win10. One or two programs I had to reinstall after putting 10 on but apart from that it's been a breeze

I have had Win10 on since about August and so far so good. ASCOM drivers work well with 10. I have numerous ham-radio programs which use a lot of com port items, some conflicts have shown up but resolved within the software configuration. One thing I do NOT like is that MS now uses your computer and its associated bandwidth to update other computers on the net. So if you have data limitations from your provider it could be a problem. Now, you CAN shut this function off within the windows 10 security menu, but I think Joe-User will not realize it until he/she starts reading about the operating system. Also you used to have more control on what OS upgrades you wanted to install, not so much anymore, think its just one big bundle each time.
My suggestion is, if you have software that is affected by drivers and com ports that you ask the author/other users if its 10 compatible and if there are any special instructions BEFORE the W10 upgrade. Some folks have trouble, some don't. I will say this, it sure boots up a lot faster than W7.
Regards,
Chuck
